Distraction

Zan nodded slowly and enjoyed eating the rest of the brownie. "Well... at least one step at a time means you're still going forward, right?" His eyes drifted away for a moment. "Sometimes... just getting out of bed in the morning is an accomplishment."

He sighed and shook the memories from his mind. "Then there's the days when you can't slow down enough to think." He grinned again. "Which was most of my day today, and now I got a race to get to." His gaze studied Destiny's face. "You're not interested in doing something different tonight, are ya? It's kinda crowded and noisy but... It would be a distraction, and I'd make sure nobody bothered you..."

Jason sighed and slid down  onto his back again, letting his head sink into his pillow. "Okay..." His eyes closed immediately, although his arm came up to invite Katie down to use him as a pillow again. Just a nap. Then he'd get up again...

By evening though, his energy simply hadn't returned. It hadn't gotten worse, but his fever was hanging on, as was his immense tiredness. Rick tried to coax him to the dinner table at least, but he couldn't even muster up that much energy. His stomach wasn't quite as sensitive though, enabling him to at least drink some broth. By nightfall though, not much else had changed...

"Katie?" Rick came quietly into the room while Jason slept. He offered her a small smile. "Holding up okay?" Even if it were to seem Jason was worse off than she, Rick had a hunch she was feeling more poorly than she let on. He kept his voice low so as not to wake Jason. "Only you know how much you can take... what would happen if Jason had an even worse episode? Would you be able to handle it?"
