Apology

Hunter nodded thoughtfully, still thinking. "Yeah, I don't know Axel that well but your brother said he was a miracle worker with your car. I know he's got a bum hand, but if you're working and he can tell me what to do, it would help." Hunter himself could fix his own car's little problems, but he wasn't the mechanic Ryan or Axel were. "Then Eli can help at least make it look decent on the outside. You're right tho - it's going to take several days probably."

He sipped his cold drink through the straw and shrugged. "Not sure about Tony. Haven't dealt with him and awful lot, but I'm sure we could work something out as long as he knew we were doing it to help Zan. Which, by the way... feels like the right thing to do, but still a little weird. We've done nothing but compete, and now we're gonna help him..."

Aaron sank down a little in his seat, disappointed, but not really surprised. He remained quiet the rest of the ride back, sensing he'd killed the mood. He was a bit sorry about that, but what was done was done.

After getting back, he hobbled to his room, mentally prepared for a long night of nothingness. Not that his knee minded - by now, it was throbbing.

Waiting outside in the dark, Hal was leaned back against the brick wall. His hood was down, but he still wore his ball cap, and waited for Sam. As she emerged, he straighted and moved from the shadows. "He knew, didn't he? That I was there?"

He sighed and put his hands in his hoodie pockets. "Maybe next time it really should be someone other than me, who's better at hiding." He gave her a look of apology. "I know you said you wanted to see how he'd be if he thought it was just the two of you... but I guess we still don't know."
