Of Interest

Tal really was surprised Brooke seemed serious about helping him. She'd only met him about an hour ago, after all. She did seem nice though, and genuine, as far as he could tell. He trusted Scarlet, so her cousin couldn't be all bad or else she wouldn't be here, right?

He grew quiet for a moment as his eyes roamed the yard. He was pretty used to just doing his own thing now. Being antisocial had become his norm, aside from some late nights at the bar in spite of Eli's promptings not to go there. As nice as Brooke was being, did he really want to invite someone into his life right now, surface or otherwise?

He gave her a sidelong glance. Having a couple extra hands packing boxes would be kind of nice. Eli had offered, but their days off weren't lining up right. He knew close to nothing about Brooke, but if she was desperate enough to offer to help a stranger move, maybe she really did need friends like Eli had implied on occasion. "Well, I'm... gonna pack most of the day tomorrow since it's my day off." He shrugged. "If... you wanna swing by, you're more than welcome. I... can at least feed you pizza or something."

Destiny's accepting his invite to a movie made Zan's smile return. "Good. 'Cause I was gettin' worried I'd have to go home now." He really wasn't ready to go home yet. If Destiny had turned him down, he would have probably gone and found something else to do.

Finishing up and paying for their meal, Zan followed Destiny out, slinging his jacket over his shoulder. "Hope you don't mind I still gotta ride with you," he reminded sheepishly. "Once my car's up and running again, I'm gonna owe you multiple rides."

When they got to the theater and walked inside, Zan stood back and looked at all the options. "Well, we got a little time 'til any of them start... see anything of interest?"
