Aaron couldn't help his chuckle at Sam, and he gave her a little bow. "Nicely done. You obviously have a lot of talent." He grabbed another onion ring and munched on it before taking the darts again. He stood a ways away from the target and turned his back on it. Back to using his right hand, he waited a moment, then spun around and without hesitation, let the first dart fly for a bullseye. For the next one, he studied the target for a couple seconds, then closed his eyes. He threw the dart, and hit just the outer edge of the bullseye.
Grinning, he tossed a look at Sam. "Been way too long since I got to practice," he admitted. "I used to throw knives blindfolded." For just a moment, his gaze betrayed him as his mind was lost in the not-so-distant past. He'd been praised for his abilities, but had also been punished for his failings.
He took the last dart in his left hand and turned his back on the target again. This time, he threw over the shoulder. The dart hit the outside rim of the target, almost going into the wall instead. His eyes widened and he stifled a laugh. "And... looks like we're closer to being even."
He collected the darts and handed them back to her before he snitched a small piece of fried cheese from her plate. "Mm... those are good too." He gave her a mischievous little look. "You might have to bring me back here."
He took a long swig of water, then sighed, glancing around. "Duty calls." He grabbed his crutches. "Be right back." He threw a glance over his shoulder. "Unless you wanna follow me into the little boy's room." Knowing good and well she'd let him go, he kept his route until the bathroom door had shut behind him. His eyes immediately found the window, just above head-height, and just big enough for a man to slip through if he did it right. The wheels in his mind continued to turn.
A few minutes later, he reemerged and hobbled back to the table. "So... you gonna take another turn, or what?"
Eli nodded at his sister. He knew she might not be ready to race, but she was willing to help, and that was the main thing. "Alright. I'll let you two get in touch with Zan and we'll go from there." He pushed off the car and looked towards the crowd. "I gotta go find a guy. I'll catch you two later."
"Later." Hunter gave him a wave before settling back on his elbows and looking up at Ryan. "Take things as slow as you need," he mentioned. "Nobody's gonna make you race before you're ready. If you do wanna practice tho, we can come out here in daylight and just play around. Get the feel of the sand under ya again."
He leaned closer and nudged her with his shoulder. "You don't lose what you were born with," he assured softly. "And you've always been a better driver than me."
