Even

Zan frowned at Destiny's comment but turned it into a little smile. "You should believe it," he prompted. A little sparkle came to his eyes. He didn't think he'd said anything out of the ordinary but if he made her feel good... he was glad. It had been a long time since he'd made someone smile like that.

Lifting his glass, he winked. "To feeling special. You deserve it."

A short while later, they were both finished eating, and were just sitting, enjoying the evening air as the sun began to set. Zan sighed with content and looked at the dishes on the table. "Can I help with the dishes?" he offered. "I don't think bringing the pop really made us even."

Even though Aaron was waiting for Sam, he still gave a little start when she opened the door. Being called a slow poke made him smirk and he grabbed his crutches to hobble out after her. Coming up alongside her in the hall, he tapped her behind with a crutch. "Who you calling slow poke?"

Back in the control room, Hal waited until they were well on their way before following after them. It wouldn't be easy to keep out of sight, but he wasn't about to leave Sam alone like this.

Hitting the outdoors, Aaron stopped for a mental and took a deep breath of fresh air. He was more than happy to go out somewhere with Sam, but if this was all he'd get, it would have been worth it. Just getting out of that building was a relief.

He hobbled along behind Sam to her car, and managed to get inside, a bit clumsily. He was quiet on the ride. Almost eerily so. But really, he was just enjoying being out and about. The lights, the streets, the cars, the air. It felt like he'd been a prisoner forever.

Once they'd reached their destination and parked, he gave Sam a sidelong glance as he unbuckled his seat belt. "You're really letting me do this... be out in public?"
