Odd Hours

Zan was pretty sure he could believe Destiny, and he felt a little better now. "Well... I'd hate to think you were crying, but as long as you get up in the morning with the sun then... I won't try to keep you up all night."

He gave her a wink before downing the rest of his coffee. Play cards? With her? Would they even see each other again? Did he even want to?

"I think that sounds like fun too." He reached into his inside jacket pocket and pulled out a pen, then grabbed a napkin. Was he nuts? Maybe. Maybe it was just because it was late. Maybe it was because he'd been bored today. Whatever the case, he was writing his cell phone number down and giving it to a complete stranger. A girl, no less.

He slid it across the table to her. "For when you feel like a card game..." He shrugged. "Or if you change your mind and... need someone to remind you the sun's gonna come up tomorrow. I'm up all odd hours anyway. Okay?" He didn't care if she never called. It just made him feel like he'd done all he could.

At first, Chance didn't even respond to Misty's presence. His mind was so far away, in such a dark, dark place. Slowly, he realized someone was touching him, and it was a warm, comforting touch. His sobs gradually faded, though the tears continued to flow from his eyes. He tried to stop shaking, but his body just wouldn't cooperate.

"Make it go away," he whispered. His face contorted in anguish as he looked up at her through the tears. "Please..." He shuddered through his trembling. "I can't live with myself."

"Mmm... creamer for you... black for me." Hunter looked down at Ryan and bit his lower lip. It was going to be a hard day today, and starting out with as good a pick-me-up as he could, might at least keep the edge off for a little while.

Avoiding the topic though, he quite suddenly rolled out of bed and threw the blanket up over Ryan's head. "But if we keep talking coffee, I'm gonna wet the bed, and that would not be a good thing... at all." It didn't take him long in the bathroom, and he brushed his teeth but didn't bother to shave yet. It wasn't much later and he was hovering over Ryan's shoulder as she prepped the coffee in the kitchen.

"Ooh, wait wait." He reaches around her and put in an extra scoop. "Okay there."
