Keep Me Awake

Hal soaked in Sam's kiss, returning it gladly until she pulled away. He smiled again and reached out to brush her cheek. "Goodnight, Sam. See you tomorrow."

Once he was alone, he shut off all the lights, closed the patio doors and wandered to bed. Lying in the dark, his mind replayed the evening. Did they really have something going here? If he was reading Sam correctly, she definitely was enjoying herself. But...where was all this leading? Maybe it didn't matter. Maybe he just needed to enjoy the moments for what they were. And what they were right now was lovely.

Gunner chuckled and nodded. "Your uncle for sure, and Con. Maybe just them and Jamie and Amanda. That would be nice." There were others who might feel snubbed, but that was their problem. The more Gunner thought about it, the more he liked the small idea.

Shifting his thoughts, he sighed and leaned his head back in his pillow. His exhaustion was catching up to him. "Yeah, I guess my place is a little bigger," he agreed. "I'd definitely want to save for another place though. If for nothing else, just so it can be... ours."

He desperately tried to keep his heavy eyes open and smiled. "You're amazing, and I love you."

Zan looked cross-eyed at the sauce on his nose and he laughed at Destiny's sarcasm. "Well I'm glad you can pencil me in to your busy schedule." He grabbed a napkin to wipe off the sauce then tossed it at Destiny. "We could... start by walking off this pizza then... hang out at my place for a movie or video games..." He hadn't had her over to his place yet, and wondered if she'd be okay with that. If not, he'd be perfectly content going back to her place. He just wanted to at least offer.

Hunter grinned at Ryan and nudged her leg. "The kissing part sounds good," he agreed. "But I suppose the coffee is a good idea too..."

...It wasn't long before they'd both left and gone to his apartment. He cleaned up a few more things and got the air mattress in the spare room aired up with Ryan's help. Eventually though, they wound up on the couch as usual, letting a movie play as they drank coffee and enjoyed each other's company...

"Mm-hmm..." Hunter lay on his back with Ryan on top of him, continuing his affection. "Told ya this part... sounded good..." He deepened his kiss, just letting himself fall into the moment as his arms tightened around her and his foot rubbed against her leg. He was just getting ready to shift around when a knock at the door made him jump. "Crap." He looked up at Ryan sheepishly. "Is it that time already?"

Sitting up, he took her with him before dumping her back onto the couch. Yep. It was just after midnight. Time had totally slipped away. Opening up the door and seeing Dylan, Hunter smiled. "Hey! You made it!"

Dylan gave him a crooked grin. "No thanks to Rick's slow driving." He managed to get inside with his backpack and large duffel bag. Immediately spotting Ryan, he wasn't surprised. He'd assumed that was her car he'd seen parked next to Hunter's.

Hunter wandered back towards the living room. "Ryan's been helping... keep me awake."

"Uh huh." Dylan nodded in mock belief. "I'm sure she was doing a great job."

Hunter just smirked. "Take a load off. How was the trip?"

Dylan set his bags down and shrugged. "Boring. Not bad though." He took off his army-green baseball cap and scratched his head. "Been a while since I had a road trip that long."

"Well... you hungry? Wanna stay up a while or go to bed?"

"Um... seeing as though Jason's gonna pick me up at eight... I should probably try to get some sleep."

Hunter cringed. "Didn't even give you a day to relax huh?"

"My choice," Dylan clarified. He looked between Hunter and Ryan, hiding another grin. "Don't um... don't let me interrupt your 'staying awake' now."
