Kirk growled in frustration, but he did listen. Adison was smart and she balanced him out. He knew better than to just brush off what she was saying. "Well maybe they need more protection than what the Elite can give then. I mean, if the Agency would hunt them down, the Elite is too small. They don't have enough manpower to really protect them. So it still comes back to the FBI needing to know about this."
Sliding over sideway, he curled into Adison, putting his head on her shoulder. "I just don't know what to do," he concluded softly. He'd been so worked up, now he was exhausted. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt like this... like he just wanted to curl up in the corner and shut out the world.
Eric looked into Stacy's eyes, making sure she was telling the truth. And he couldn't find anything that contradicted his words. His pulse quickened as he let go of her hand, bringing his palm to the side of her face. "I tried so hard not to let someone steal my heart again... but I love you so much... I don't ever want to go back to what I was without you."
Smiling again, he leaned close to give her another soft kiss. "Wanna walk this cowboy back to his bunk so he can take a shower before supper?"
They'd survived the day. At least Reese had received no calls otherwise. The Elite building was quiet. Almost too quiet. Too much was happening. Too many people we're gone. He sighed and pulled out his phone to send a quick text message to Rosetta.
Sometimes we stand and fight.
And sometimes we run.
