Zan chuckled and settled back a little more in the chair, trying to get more comfortable. "You have permission to throw something at me too. Goodnight." His body was so tired, that he immediately closed his eyes, but it was only a few moments later that he opened one again just to check on Destiny. He was still surprised she'd stayed, but still glad, and hoped she'd at least get a little bit of sleep on the old couch.
It was a couple hours later in the middle of the night when Zan woke with a start. Jett had gotten himself up and was hunting pain killers in the bathroom but had tripped on a rug, then knocked several things off the sink, causing quite a ruckus. Only half awake and groggy, Zan was grateful Destiny was there to help find the pain killers and get Jett back to bed with an ice pack for his arm, since Jett was mostly out of it himself, then clean up the mess before staggering back to the living room to try and finish out the night.
By morning, Zan was stiff and had a crick in his neck from the chair. All he wanted was to keep sleeping, but he just couldn't get comfortable enough anymore. He finally rose quietly so as not to disturb Destiny, and checked to make sure Jett was still asleep. After that, he called in to work and also called in for Jett. Still trying to be quiet, he cleaned up a little, then started a pot of coffee. Maybe that would help - although at this point, he wasn't sure anything was going to save him from his grogginess.
"It won't take long," Eli assured Ryan. "He's a bully. It'll only take a couple times of getting put in his place, and he'll leave." He knew his sister was worried about handling the situation, but he had no doubt she could. She'd proven she could drive again and could still race as well as ever. "Between the three of you guys, he really doesn't stand a chance anyway."
"I thought moving was the hardest thing we'd have to face for a while." Reese slumped down in Angelica's extra chair after having shut the door. Sighing, he leaned back and closed his eyes, rubbing his forehead. He'd been battling a headache for two full days now.
"Now we have an ex-Agency operative on the loose and wanted by us and the FBI, we're down two agents, we're trying to figure out how to move locations, and Kirk is breathing down my neck asking about Jason and Katie. He knows something is up and will not let it go. Jason and Katie are both walking on eggshells - Katie just wants to get a meeting over with, and I just want Kirk to quit being so smart." Taking a deep breath, he let it out slowly before glancing over to his wife. "I don't know what to do. I don't know how to keep any of this together. If it can fall apart, it is, and I don't know how much longer we can survive. I just... this wasn't what I envisioned when I took over after Austin."
