Snore

Zan's eyes widened slightly at Destiny. She would really do this? For a moment, he just studied her in the lights of the parking lot. She was serious. His lips finally upturned a little and he nodded in surrender. "Okay. Thank you." He got into the car and still studied her even after she'd gotten in to drive. She had been going through so much lately and had such a rough history - it surprised him she'd do something like this. But it also made him feel good that she trusted him that much. He'd let her do this - after all, if something did go wrong, he really didn't want to be alone to handle Jett.

After getting his car from Eli's, they finally went to Zan's apartment. Jett was quiet, focused mainly on not falling over when he tried to stand, and not moving too quickly so he could avoid the pain. Finally inside, Zan directed him towards the bedroom.

Jett stopped in the hall though, frowning. "Wait. No. I'll sleep on the couch."

"No," Zan retorted sternly. "You're sleeping in the bed where you'll be comfortable and can rest."

"But..." Tears sprang into Jett's eyes. "After everything, I..."

"Just go." Zan pointed to the bedroom. He didn't want to be mean, but Jett still wasn't completely sober so there was no point in trying to reason with him. "Can you get your own shoes off?"

Jett nodded numbly and finally trudged into the bedroom.

After making sure his friend was settled and as comfortable as possible, Zan returned to the living room. Glancing around, he sighed deeply. He was so tired by now. It was very late and all he wanted was his own bed. But it was better for Jett this way.

His eyes drifted to Destiny. Without saying anything, he straightened up the couch, retrieved a blanket and a couple soft throw pillows. He moved to the chair though and sat down, kicking off his boots and setting his feet up on the end of the coffee table. It wasn't comfortable, but it  would have to do. He gestured to the couch. "It's all yours." He quirked an eyebrow. "You don't snore, do you?"

Eli thought for a moment on Ryan's question, then shook his head. "Unfortunately... I don't think he's gone for good."

He shifted around a little so he could still hold Scarlet and also see his sister. "I don't think he'll try the novice race stunt again. But I think he'll be back, and I think he'll be out for blood." He pursed his lips. "Which means you three will be at the top of his list to take out. If he loses a couple races though, then I think he'll leave for good."

Hal smiled and nodded. "Okay. I'll think of something good." He came close to Sam and leaned in to give her a soft kiss on the lips. "Goodnight."

Leaving the apartment, he made his way to his car and finally left. He was glad he'd come and just hoped Sam would be okay. It was an unfortunate turn of events, and he might not agree with her decision, but that didn't change his feelings about her.
