Show You Up

Sott’s face flushed at Dalton’s comment, though he grinned a little as he looked down at his food. He had been spending a lot of time with Hope lately. Had it been that obvious?

Jamison withheld a chuckle. Scott’s frequent visits to Hope’s office hadn’t gone unnoticed, and he knew it wasn’t for counseling. He also had figured out though, that the fact that Scott was back to dating at all was a huge step for him.

Dylan just observed, not sure who Scott’s girl was. He kind of remembered something being mentioned once a while back, but he couldn’t recall a name. Scott seemed pretty shy about it though. He seemed pretty shy overall, really.

Continuing their meal, there was a bit of banter and small talk, but soon it was time to get back to work. So the three headed back to the Elite, while Scott went his own way.

“I know.” Jason was quiet for a few long moments, then motioned Katie over to him. Once she was close, he took her close and pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her.

Just a little while longer, that’s all.

He buried his face against her shoulder.

At least we’re not sick. And when we’re not at work we can just… relax and… be together and…

And he didn’t know what else. There was no other answer. Which was worse? Being sick or dealing with secrecy? The secrecy would make them sick, then it would be both. He could feel his emotions bubble, and took a deep breath to calm himself.

Sorry. It’s gonna work out. I know it is.

Lifting his head, he didn’t even pause before pressing his lips to hers, just letting his passion show. They had to be okay. They just had to survive a short while longer. Then everything would work out.

Hal smiled as he got up from the table, keeping Sam’s hand in his to pull her up too. “Okay good. So, this is what we discussed…” All the way back to the office, he explained about the meeting and moving plans. Kirk and Adison were fired up about it, and Reese was getting there. They had gone over floor plans, including a discussion about security and how things might change a little, and also an infirmary, which the FBI had miraculously approved. There was the matter of holding cells, and while the FBI didn’t like the Elite holding anybody, Reese had won them over with Kirk’s help, so the new building would have very a very similar setup. It also looked like moving in might be later than planned since there would be quite a few renovations that would need to happen, but eventually, Reese and Kirk both wanted everyone’s involvement to get things set up the best way possible.

Back at the office, the rest of the day went without any major hitches. Work got done, meetings and reports were accomplished, and the evening was looked forward to by more than one. The night was quiet as well, and the only thing that might be deemed strange by Ty later on was that he never saw Aaron leave his room once, not even for supper.

Zan snickered and rolled his eyes at Ryan’s teasing. “Yeah well… if I can’t beat you in the races, maybe I’ll just have to show you up around here.” He grinned as he glanced over at Leo. “Oh yeah. I’ve seen him around. And yes, I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. It’s gonna be weird intentionally losing a race, but anything to get rid of that jerk.”

He paused and looked into the engine she was working on. “Looks like I better get out of here so you can finish this and actually show up tonight.” His phone started ringing, and he grabbed it quickly from his pocket. “And… that would be Jett. I’ll see ya later, Ryan.” Finally leaving the garage, he answered his phone on the way back to his car…

… Stepping into the Sandwich Basket, Zan glanced around before spotting Destiny at a table. Smiling, he ambled over casually and slid into the booth next to her instead of across from her. He smelled like an engine and a quick cleanup had not gotten all the grease off his hands either. “So I got roped into working on a car over at Tony’s this afternoon…”

He gave Destiny a sidelong glance. “Which left me no time to shower or change, and I’m ten minutes late on top of it. So there you have it. It’s basically Jett’s fault so you can smack him in a little while when you see him.” He gave her a sheepish look as he paused to catch his breath. “Hi.”

Dylan’s home and catching a
quick nap. He told me to just
do whatever I wanted and
he’d fend for himself for
supper but I feel bad.

Hunter paused in thought as he texted Ryan. She was probably off work by now, and they had more than enough time to eat supper before heading to the desert. And while Dylan really didn’t seem to care what they did, Hunter really didn’t want to abandon him – at least not on his first day here.

Wanna come over here?
I can order out pizza. We can
hang a little while, then head
out? Not much of a date but
better than nothing?
