Only Friend

Travis grinned before taking a bite of his hamburger and shrugging. "I dunno... I thought maybe we could ride out to the pond and go for a swim since it's so hot today. Apparently I have to help fix the horse trailer, but nobody will notice if I'm gone a couple hours."

His foot continued to play with hers under the table. "Whad'ya say?"

Dylan frowned a little, reading Ashlee's text. Finishing off his banana, he threw the peel into the nearby trash can.

Sorry - that's no fun. Hope you
can get some good sleep...

Things here are great. I'm having
a blast and learning a lot already.
Staying with Hunter has been
good and I'm making some new
friends too. I like it here.

Kirk watched Sam leave, and nodded to her. "Thanks for coming back." After she'd gone, his eyes drifted to Adison. "Now that that crisis is over... back to finding out where Jason and Katie went."

Aaron sat on his bed with his leg elevated and ice on his knee. It was the best he could do on his own without involving Misty. A half-eaten frozen dinner sat on the night stand. It had actually tasted pretty good after going several days without hardly anything to eat. Even so, he could only get half of it down. Maybe it was just the way he felt, not the taste.

He'd been allowed to shower and change clothes at least, so he was physically feeling a little better. On the inside though... he knew this was it. He'd just sacrificed everything by coming back here like he had. Once the Elite had all they wanted from him and he was of no more use, he knew he was headed to prison. It didn't matter what Sam had told him before - he didn't believe he had any other fate than that.

He shifted a little and winced as pain shot through his knee. Leaning his head back against the wall, he sighed and let his eyes roam to the other corner where the legos had all been disassembled and put back in boxes. Sam had tried so hard... it wasn't her fault her efforts had failed. It was all on him. And as much as he wanted to be proud that he was still his own man... it just didn't feel good. He'd lost something by leaving... including a friend. His only friend.
