Zan rolled his eyes at Destiny's comment. "Ha... ha. Very funny."
Jett
couldn't help a little snicker - the first smile in days. "If he can't
handle it, good luck with him." He scooted down a bit further to put his
feet up on the table with hers, and grabbed a throw pillow to hug while
he watched the movie. He was still sore, but the soft pressure felt
good... and it was just a little comforting.
Seeing
his friend start to relax, Zan gave Destiny a crooked grin. How did she
do it? How did she manage to talk him down, make him eat, make him
drink, and convince him to let them stay and watch a movie? She was good - of that, there was no doubt.
As
the movie played on, Jett eventually finished the toast and half the
sprite, managing to keep it all down. By the time the credits rolled, he
was more settled and less grouchy that Destiny and Zan had stayed. Even
though he'd slept most of the day, he was tired again, and his headache
had returned. But... he couldn't help but be grateful they'd come, even
if he'd complained about it.
Zan had almost fallen
asleep more than once, and now yawned and looked over to Destiny a bit
sleepily. It was getting late, and he did have to work in the morning.
"Hey." He addressed Jett. "You work tomorrow?"
"Yeah... but not til noon. So I can at least sleep in."
"Good. If... you need anything before then though... let Destiny know, 'cause I'll be busy."
Jett grinned a little again. "Thanks a lot." He threw her a look. "Not that I mind... you're a better nurse than he'll ever be."
"Brilliant
idea number three!" Kirk motioned excitedly with his hands, almost
dropping his pizza. "Yes. That's definitely something you can do with
Reese because you'll know what will be acceptable for the FBI to see and
what won't."
He leaned over and grabbed his phone to dial a number. "In the meantime..."
Hal
ignored Sam's ringing cell phone as he continued his affectionate
kisses. He had her backed up against the kitchen counter where they'd
been waiting for their dinner to finish cooking and had wound up
enjoying each other's company.
There was a pause
before her phone rang again. "Don't... answer it," he warned between
kisses, and wrapped his arms around her even tighter. "This... is
more... important..." He sent a row of light kisses down her neck, only
to be interrupted for a third time. Groaning, he finally stopped and
leaned his forehead against hers, sighing. "If it's not life or death,
I'm gonna kill whoever that is."
Sitting
down with Katie, Jeff tried to gain back control of his emotions, but he
didn't let go of her hand. He couldn't begin to express how relieved he
was that they no longer had to worry about Kirk. He wondered what had
changed his mind though.
"Yeah..."
He tapped his chest. "I'm still alive anyway, so I guess it's working
well enough." He forced a wry grin. "Angel's just insisting I stay
cooped up and sleep a lot. Not that it's doing all that much good. I'm
going stir crazy and Hawk probably thinks I forgot about him."
He
paused, knowing his daughter would probably like a better answer than
that, and sighed as he grew a little more serious. "Actually I feel like
crap. I don't have any energy even if I could go help in the
barn, and according to Angel, unless we get this under control, I'm in
trouble again." He shrugged. "But it is what it is. I'm still here so...
I guess that's what counts, right?"
