Wall

Watching Katie and Jason both leave, Reese had done all he could. If this were a normal place with normal rules, he'd have both their badges. But how could he get rid of his top two agents, especially now?

Hearing someine behind him, he spun around to find Kirk, and frowned. "I'd suggest no comments."

Kirk held up his hands. "Just heading out myself. I'll be back tomorrow." Making his way out, he caught up to Katie and Jason in the parking lot. "Hey, guys..."

Jason stopped near his pickup and glanced over his shoulder  "What do you want?"

"To help." Kirk went to Katie instead, though, and handed her the jacket Reese had refused. "At least get him to wear this under his clothes. It's high-tech body armor."

Jason rolled his eyes and got into his truck to wait.

Garret's eyes opened again to see Maggie. He should have known she'd be back. He'd never given her a definite answer about supper. He really didn't want to go. He really didn't want to sit with the family. And yet...

Finally, after a ling moment, he took her hand and slid back off the bed. He didn't answer her, but simply followed her back to the dining room. There was already a place set for him. Little did he know, Laura had set a place every night, just in case.

Sitting down without a word, he waited for the usual prayer before eating. His eyes remained down though. He was here...finally...but something inside of him had broken and he wasn't the same, man he'd been the last time he'd sat here.

Laura caught Nate's eye and smiled. At least Garret was here. She knew that was a huge step in the right direction. Whatever had gotten him here, even if it was due to the terrible circumstances earlier, she was grateful.

Garret ate in silence, just letting the others talk around him. Tonight, his elbows remained in the table, and his eyes down, bypassing the etiquette he'd taught Maggie before. Tonight, he was brave enough to sit here, but made sure he was still closed off, keeping himself safely behind his wall.
