Dateless

Kirk bobbed his head to his typical loud music as he stood at the stove, fixing the pan of stirfry. He was pleased with how the day went. The tour of the Elite had gone well, Ron was heading home but might be back. Barnes had agreed to Sam joining the team, and he had two leads on a new location for the Elite. The only loose thread at this point was Jamison.

Checking the rice and finding it done, he set that pot aside, then went back to stirring the sizzling vegetables and chicken. He'd promised Adison he'd cook tonight, and was gonna stick to it. Now all that was missing was her presence.

Hearing Ryan might be willing to just go watch a race, Eli perked up a little. That was a huge step forward as she'd been avoiding the races altogether since her accident.

"I could take you tonight I'd you want. I was planning to go anyway..." He chewed on a couple fries and took a sip of his soda. "And... don't worry about Tal. First, he's moving on, and second, he doesn't usually go to the races anymore." Truth be told, Tal was not doing the greatest. He'd retreated into his own world like he had been when Eli first met him, and he was still rather bitter towards Ryan. He did avoid the racing scene now though, so Ryan wouldn't have to worry about that.

"Scarlet is doing something with her cousin tonight so I'm dateless anyway." He grinned. "Whadya say?"

Gunner still didn't say anything, but just tried to digest Bree's words. He didn't want her to feel badly. That's what this whole thing was about - making sure she felt good, not bad.

Sighing a little, he scooted back on the bed to lean against the wall, then patted the spot next to him. As Bree joined him, he put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head. "I'm not mad at you," he replied quietly. "Just myself...like always."

He fell silent again for a few moments. "Is this really better? I...I just wanted you to be free so you could be happy... but... you'd rather have this?"
