Trouble

Hearing a knock at the door, Jamison looked up from his book. No one ever came by, unless it was a salesman or someone looking for a different apartment. He sighed and got to his feet, book still in hand. Setting his yogurt aside, he put his current spoonful in his mouth as he opened the door, expecting a spiel about magazines he didn't want to buy. But seeing Adison, he blinked in surprise. What on earth was she doing here? No one from work had ever come by - ever. And agents always went in pairs, but she was alone. Had Barnes sent her? It looked like she was dressed for bed, not work.

Realizing he was staring, he quickly sucked the yogurt off his spoon to take it from his mouth. "Adison...hi..." He stepped back, opening the door wider for her to come in. To the left was the living room where he retreated, letting her follow him. It was a nice spacious room with five floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, all almost completely full of books. To one side was a large, well-kept fish tank, and a few green plants were here and there. A round table held a few more books, his laptop and several stacks of papers, then off in one corner there was a fireplace with a small couch. It might take one a few moments to realize there was no television, just plenty of light, warmth, and books.

Jamison put his spoon down and closed the book he'd been reading. "What are you doing here? Am I in even more trouble?"

Eli grinned at his sister and shook his head. "You've got guts enough. Trust me." He was just glad she was here at all. It had been a victory whether anyone else recognized it or not. "You wanna stick around a while or take off?" He'd leave it up to her, as promised.

Getting crowded in by the onlookers, Hunter ignored most of them. He used to thrive on the attention of the girls, but now... it just left a bad taste in his mouth. Looking over where he'd been earlier, he just caught sight of Ryan changing her mind about coming over. If these dang people would just get out of the way...

He nodded politely to a few of them and chatting with a couple guys before finally breaking away and wandering back over where Leo's car still was.

"Hey, hey." Leo grinned. "You do still got it. Had me worried there for a while."

Hunter shrugged. "Just needed a little motivation, I guess." He neared and cocked his head at Ryan. "They're already talking rematch in a couple nights. Am I worthy of your company now?"
