Awkward

"Mm...yes." Laura cuddled in closer, draping an arm around Nate. "You should have seen him when he came back earlier. He set up here in the living room to work and wasn't going to look away from that from door for anything. Then I was clumsy in the kitchen and he helped clean up my arm - wouldn't take no for an answer. I think...maybe it helped that he had a job to do."

She fell silent for a few moments as she thought. "What...what happens when he's through this? I mean, when he's feeling himself again? Will he have to go back to that room at the Elite?"

Garret chuckled and shook his head at Maggie. "I can't believe you just ate part of your homework." He'd been watching and wondered when she'd run out of banana pieces. "Looks like you'll have to use your fingers now."

He reached over and took her hands. "See? You might not have a banana handy, but you'll always have your fingers." He spread apart her fingers on one hand, and left only her thumb sticking out on the other. "There's your six again, see?"

He'd had to figure out how to count on his hands the hard way - on his own. The rule had been to always do it in his head, but he'd ended up using his fingers under the table, out of sight from his teacher. He had a feeling Maggie might have already been shown this a time or two, and he also had a feeling that perhaps math didn't stick with her too easily. Nonetheless...he didn't mind...this. Sitting here. Doing something so different than being out on a mission slitting throats. Part of him really wanted to be back in the bedroom again, in the quiet dark. But the other part of him...was this feeling enjoyment? He wasn't sure.

Kirk let his arms stay wrapped around Adison and grinned as she leaned her head against his. Quite suddenly though, he just felt a tad...awkward. It was a feeling  he wasn't used to around Adison, which bothered him. He just...spent so much time with her and had been best of friends with her for so ling that being free to hold and kiss her was...pleasurable of course, but also...strange.

Her growling stomach saved him from the moment though, and he laughed. "Chinese is on its way. Hope that's alright. I really did want to cook for you, I just...got tired." He smirked. "Not a very good excuse, I know, but..." His voice trailed off as the doorbell rang. "Ahh...food."

Standing, he let Adison slide off his lap before going to pay for the food. He brought it to the coffee table and spread it out, then got a few more items from the kitchen. It wasn't long before he was sitting next to Adison on the couch enjoying their supper. And like always, his choice of topic came back around to work."

"So I told Reese about everything, and then we let Gunner go, too. Wasn't pretty, but...at least the hard part is over."

JT put his arm around Bree and gave her a little squeeze. "I'm sure he's just fine." And maybe that's what made this so unfortunate...that Gunner would be fine and not let her know.

"Come on...why dont you stay here tonight, and if we still haven't heard anything by morning, we'll figure out what to do then..."

...Unfortunately, by morning there was still no word. Gunner hadn't called, he still wasn't answering his phone, and a quick trip proved he wasn't at his apartment either. Breakfast was bypassed...hunger didn't exist within all the worry.

JT fiddled with his car keys as he stood ready with Bree. "Con said he'd start at his end of town. We can go different directions. Check all the normal spots, then just keep our eyes out for his car, okay?" It hadn't been twenty-four hours so they couldn't report a missing person yet...not that they needed to. It hadn't been said aloud, but it was obvious this was just another case of Gunner running off when faced with a problem.
