Alone

Not getting an argument, Jason nodded. "Alright. Come on." As he left his office with Katie, Trooper sensed they were going to leave the building, and trotted behind them.

Getting to the main floor, Reese caught them at an intersection between cubicles. Seeing the two of them headed out, he crossed his arms. He'd just dealt with losing Gunner, and now Jason was going to go get himself killed. "And...where might we be going?"

"Out." Jason  moved forward until Reese blocked his path. He threw him a warning glance. "Out of my way, Reese."

Reese shook his head. "You're not going anywhere until we find this shooter."

"We're not going to find this shooter!" Jason  threw up his one arm. "If I get killed, so be it! I can't stay locked up here forever!"

"Just give it a little more time," Reese reasoned calmly. "We'll find him."

"No you won't. He's too good and you know it. Now get out of my way."

"Jason, I'm giving you a direct order...do not leave this building."

"Or what? You'll take my badge?"

"Don't make me use threats, Hotshot."

Jason scowled at him and tried to go around him but Reese sidestepped. Running on emotions instead of using his head, Jason lashed out, giving Reese's chest a shove.

Reese stumbled back a couple steps - far enough that Jason walked by, still en route to the door. He knew a physical fight would be ridiculous  so he refeained. But he was not going to just do nothing. "Katie," he warned, "You're not to leave either."

Jason kept walking.

Reese gave Katie a stern look. "I'm not in the habit of writing you up. Don't make me do it this time. If Jason leaves, he does it alone."

Garret finished stacking the papers and left them on the coffee table for Nate, then quietly headed back to the bedroom. He left the door open...just a crack...and crawled into the bed to sit in the corner - his usual spot.

Closing his eyes, he leaned back on the wall. Was Victoria really safe? Was his cover really safe? Was Ron really who he said he was? What if he'd lied, and he was calling the Agency back right now?

As promised, Laura finished getting supper ready and set the table with Maggie's help. Looking at her with a smile, she nodded to the hall. "You can go see if Garret wants to join us, okay?"

Gunner's phone rang...again. But it sat on an empty seat in an empty car, going unheard...
