Perks

Jason just continued to hold Katie close. He could feel her words again, and could just make them out enough to understand. He still felt the slight drawing on his emotions, and let them go as much as he dared. It wasn't enough to find relief, but he knew deep down this was just the beginning. If they both had these signs that the element was returning... It wasn't going to stop here. It would would be full blown again... it was just a matter of time.

Finally retreating, he reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "We should get back," he advised softly. He was feeling weaker and Rick would start worrying if they took too long. "I don't want to leave you though..." She was helping him, even if it was painfully slow. "And I'm sure Rick's gonna want to check you out now too..."

His thoughts began bouncing around to multiple scenarios. Until they figured this out again, it was going to be difficult to function. His eyes returned to Katie's, and a calm settled over him. "Might be kinda fun, right?" He forced a smile. "There were always a few perks..."

Carson was glad that Ryan seemed to be doing better. It was obvious she was still on the road to recovery though. Maybe this helped... her giving up these photos.

"Me? Oh, I'm... taking on step at a time." He smiled a little. Maybe they had that in common. "Things are better now that Misty and I are back together but... it's still hard."

He glanced to the door. "Every once in a while, I forget. I hear the door and look up, expecting to see him walking in here." He took his broom again so his hands had something to fiddle with.

"It'll get better in time," he assured.
