Move

Clint sighed a shook his head. "Not really. Mill had a power outage and so I couldn't talk to anyone about a job." He really had been disappointed. All he wanted was to find something as quickly as possible so he could move on and forget his misery.

"Picked up some applications from a couple other places though, so it wasn't a totally wasted trip." He shifted his weight to sit on the ground, and plucked a little weed. He really hadn't talked at all to her about what he actually wanted. He'd always told himself he wouldn't head down that road but... now... maybe he felt differently.

"You wouldn't ever want to... leave here... would you?" His eyes focused on the weed that was quickly wilting in his hands. "I mean... like get a place closer to town. Just... away from here... where it could just be us and... and our own start...?"

Garret nodded to Katie, offering her am expression that said he was sorry. "I wish I had more to offer. The only other source might be Scott. But honestly, that's only if the Agency was still experimenting with that and there was new intel."

Rick shook his head, wishing there were just clear answers. But it looked like they were on their own. "Thanks, Garret. Sorry to have bothered you."

"No bother." Garret knew that was his cue to leave, and turned to exit the infirmary.

Always...
Jason feared the future. He feared what he and Katie might go through. He was glad they were in it together, and sad at the same time.

Rick looked down at them both huddled together, and his heart ached. So did his head, but he was more bothered by what was happening to them than himself. Something had to change, or this was going to become an even greater mess. "We need to figure out how to keep this under wraps."

Jason sighed wearily. "That's a problem." They all knew if he and Katie were exposed, it would be a living nightmare. This was stuff thrillers were made out of - with their connection and abilities, they'd become Lab rats overnight, no doubt. "I don't know how."

"What I'd you weren't here. What I'd the two of you went somewhere safe where you could figure this thing out, gain some control and see how it's going to develop?"

Jason frowned. "What are you getting at?"

"Texas." Rick looked between them. "The ranch would be safe - not only from outside eyes, but there would be less things to literally blow up, in case anything happened. We can always come up with some Elite reason for you to be there - fabricate a case. No one else has to know the real reason you'd be there."

Jason's eyebrows rose. "That's not a half bad idea..."

"I'm going to go talk to Reese now. This can't wait."

After watching Rick leave, Jason turned to kiss Katie's forehead. "What do you think of his idea?"
