Shockwave

Cindy obeyed, even though every fiber in her being wanted to stay near her son. Though planning to go to the kitchen, she remained in the hallway instead, simply unable to go too far.

Jason's grip on Katie tightened. There had to be another way... there just had to be. He could feel a stronger pull now, but it wasn't enough yet... at least not for this time...

He gasped, only now realizing he'd been holding his breath. His muscles started to shake and sweat poured down his face and neck. If he didn't do something now, he was going to pass out...or worse.
I'm so sorry...

For an instant, his entire body relaxed as he let go. Then without warning, the tidal wave surged back with all its force. Crying out in pain, he tensed all over, putting Katie's hand in a vice grip. The little lamp on the nightstand exploded into a thousand tiny pieces. The mirror on the nearby wall shattered. Rick had just reached the open doorway and was knocked back into the hall by an invisible shockwave. Cindy gasped and put a hand over her mouth, her eyes wide with fear. Rick reached out to stop her from going back in yet though. "Hang on... wait til it's over."

Jason trembled all over as the surge finally passed. He could feel Katie's pull that helped drain what was left of the overabundance of emotions. A new feeling caused him to instantly release her though, and roll over to the other side of the bed where he grabbed the waste basket just in time. After throwing up twice, he lay in a sweaty heap, free of his fever, tension and emotions... and too exhausted to even move.

Rick dared a step into the bedroom as he quickly assessed the scene. It didn't look good. "Jase?" He approached the bed cautiously. "Katie, are you okay?"

Hunter just grinned, his eyes twinkling with humor. "Yeah, I know it... being terrible is a bad habit, I'm sorry."

Under the table, his ankle hooked around hers. "It's just the whole dessert thing drives me wild..." He gave her a suggestive look before stealing a kiss, which was broken by another smile and laugh.

Aaron perked up a little, seeing Sam was willing to stargaze with him again. A smile creased his lips. "I think it sounds like find too. You know.... If my schedule is free..."

His dry remark was followed by a crooked grin, and he pulled himself back to his feet again. Leaning on Sam once more, he hobbled his way back towards the stairs.

"I woulda thought someone like you would have a full social life," he mused, referring back to her statement that he'd been pondering. "Smart, pretty, and kick-butt talented." As they reached the stairs, he stopped to give his knee a short break, and turned to look at her. "Or is having no social life the norm for agents like you?"
