Wise

Aaron should have been used to Sam taking care of him, but ever time she came with ice and his pain killers, he was surprised. He never had to ask. She just... came anyway.

Left alone again, he remained sitting on his bed, propped up against the wall. He was sure that he was wearing a spot in the mattress from being like this every day. But it was more comfortable in his knee than sitting in the chair. And lying down just encouraged him to sleep too much.

He sighed and eyed one of his smaller Lego projects that he'd abandoned. He was tempted to pick it up again, but his tiredness won out. Or maybe it was just his depression that he didn't want to admit he had. Regardless, he simply leaned back and closed his eyes, knowing good and well he wouldn't see anyone else until supper time, and even then, it would be quick.

Reese leaned back in his chair and just stared at Sam for several long moments. Had she really just asked him if she could take Aaron out of here? Had she really had the nerve? He studied her face. She seemed totally serious about it.

"Okay." He leaned back to his desk again, his eyes returning to his paperwork. "Just remember... anything happens, and it's on you." He glanced up at her one last time. "Be wise."

As Ryan pulled him close, Hunter automatically wrapped his arms around her too and grinned as she spoke to the guys. It was nice to see her smiling. To see the spark in her eye. He looked over to where Axel had been, but the man was already gone. Was he that shy or just that polite? Hunter had a feeling it was the latter.

Leo and Miles exchanged glances. Had Axel helped with this? He'd never said a word.

Smirking at Ryan as she whacked them, they came for a closer look, ooing and ahing over all the little details, including the sleek paint job. "Man, she looks awesome," Leo complimented.

"Sure does," Miles agreed. "When's she gonna race?"

Leo elbowed him. Hard.

"Ow! What the-"

"When she's good and ready," Leo cut him off pointedly. He smiled at Ryan. "Thanks for stopping by to show her off. You should enjoy the rest of your day."

"I agree." Hunter pulled her tighter against himself. "I'm thinking a movie... at your place..."
