Late

Clint just kept on walking, fighting his emotions. He was hurt. Angry. Frustrated. And his eyes started to burn.

Heading out into the back pasture, the sun was sinking lower, and shadows were lengthening. In the midst of tall grass, Clint sank to his knees in defeat, his head hanging. And as it grew dark, all sense of time was lost.

It was hours later when he finally trudged into the house and quietly slipped off his boots. Padding down the hall, he went into Chase's room to check on him, brushing his cheek as he slept. Life had turned out so differently than planned. He finally left, and went to his and Wendy's bedroom, taking care as to not wake the baby. He only stayed long enough to grab some clean clothes, then left to take a shower, quietly returning a few minutes later.

Slipping into bed, he tried not to wake Wendy either as he curled up on his side. Despite his tiredness though, his eyes remained open, staring at the numbers on the alarm clock.

Garret took another sip of the shake and chuckled. "No, I don't really know her. I... know an awful lot about your family though." He shrugged. "I see Katie at the Elite though, but... we don't exactly work together." On the contrary, he was still pretty well tied to Sapphire and Nate.

He thought for another moment. "You've... got a boyfriend, right? Ryder? How come he's not with the Elite?"

In spite of Hunter's assumption that this wouldn't last, these moments with Ryan made him feel like he had a little slice of heaven right here. Just allowing the affection to show, he remained there for several minutes until between kisses, he grinned.

Rolling over so Ryan was in her back, he kissed her again before letting his grin return as his eyes twinkled. "If we take the long way home again, we'll get back just in time for a surprise..." He bit his lip. "But... only if you actually wanna leave here."
