Not Quite Yet

Hunter blinked again and half coughed, half laughed. "Oh. Right. Sure. Good." Realizing he was still holding her tightly, he let his arms relax, but they didn't let go completely quite yet.

"I... think our ride just left us stranded..." He turned his head but couldn't see through the grass, so his eyes went back to hers. "Looks like we may have an even longer walk than planned. I... should have been paying more attention."

Hal smiled and nodded. "Okay. I have an idea but I'm not sure they're open this late. So just follow me."  He was parked only a few spaces away, so once he was started and pulled out, he made sure Sam was behind him before heading out on the street.

It was fairly late, but there were a lot of nightowls out, so there was more traffic than one might anticipate. Hal took a few turns away from the busier part of town though, and led the way for only about five minutes until they came to a little family owned hotdog and and ice cream shop. There were only a couple other customer cars parked in the lot, but they were still open. A lot sign on the side of the small building simply read "Chilly." One might discover the pun later after realizing they served cold ice cream and also "chili" dogs and fries.

After parking and getting out, Hal waited for Sam to join him. "It's kinda a hole in the wall," he admitted. "But their ice cream is really good. Chili dogs aren't bad either when you're in the mood." He nodded to a little patio with tables. "And... It's warm enough we can even sit outside."
