Hunter just smiled and shifted his leg to bump hers under the table. "Don't worry. If you're too shaky once we get out there, I won't leave you alone. Promise."
He took another sip of coffee and nodded before chuckling a little. "Oh, they got so many boots around here, it's insane. And you're right... it's becoming like a small town out here."
It wasn't long before breakfast was over, and it was back to finishing up chores. Lunchtime came and went, boots were found in Ryan's size, and Hunter helped her tack up Buttons again, along with getting Bonzai ready. Out in the corral, Dylan was already on Seven, putting him through his paces at one end.
Letting Bonzai stand still on his own for a few minutes, Hunter lined up Ryan to Buttons' left side once again. "So, you made one itty bitty mistake this morning," he teased as he held the reins. "You proved you've got more oomf than you think... if you can jump up on my back like that." His eyes twinkled with humor and he patted the saddle. "If you want, after you're up here, I can get myself on Bonzai and lead you around so you don't have to worry about flying completely solo yet."
Kirk nodded to Sam. "Oh yeah. That's fine. Don't worry about it either. The report doesn't have to be glamorous. Just facts. The FBI doesn't have any say in the matter at this point."
After he was gone, Hal had finally gotten things back in order, and had the new camera in hand. "I'm gonna go find a place to put this. Wanna help?"
The rest of the day went without incident. The camera was installed, JT came and went, and Aaron behaved himself for the most part, aside from some usual complaints about boredom. Although he'd come up with some pretty fascinating creations with his legos.
Soon, it was time to leave work for the day, and shortly after, Hal found himself parking in the lot of Nemo's. He'd already spotted Sam's car and Kirk's, but his walk inside was hesitant. He was dressed casually in black jeans and boots, and a dark red collard shirt, tucked in with sleeves rolled up to his elbows. It was an unusually warm night, convincing him to leave his jacket in the car.
Once inside the club, he took in the feel of the room, including the lights, music and the type of people who were there. Most were chatting, some were laughing, some where drinking, and a few were dancing. His pause took long enough that a waitress approached him, but he waved her off, finally spotting the back portion of the room where the pool tables were. Wandering that direction, he found the others and smiled, giving a small wave. "Hey. Sorry I'm a few minutes late, but I figured y'all would appreciate me taking a shower."
Kirk laughed before taking a swig of his ginger ale from where he sat with the girls. "You'd be right." For just a moment, he cocked his head. Something felt...off. Hal seemed tense, and he picked up on it immediately. "We haven't been here long. Just long enough to get something to drink and consider something to eat before we start a game."
"Okay." It was a strange sort of awkwardness that was felt as Hal finally sat down next to Sam at the table. He was about to say more, but that same waitress came by, and he finally relented, but just asked for water.
Kirk rocked back in his chair a bit before glancing at Adison. "I don't know about you, but I'm hungry. You gonna let me eat before kicking my butt in pool?"
Rosalyn smiled as Chad sat down behind her, and held his arms close, leaning back into him. "Mmm... you just think you are. But I'll let you believe it."
She closed her eyes and sighed deeply. She could stay here all day. All night. Forever. Just like this, wrapped up in his arms. But reality wasn't on her side. "Got a text from Mom a while ago," she mentioned quietly. Her fingers ran up and down his arm softly as she gazed back out over the rolling waves. "The threat is gone."
Turning almost sideways, she curled in closer and nuzzled her face into her chest and shoulder. "She asked me if I was going to come back."
