Are You Sure?

Left alone in the dining room, Lane just stayed a while longer, bewildered by what Angel had said. What was really going on with Travis? What on earth had he felt more comfortable telling her than his own father? It hurt just a little bit, but he was more confused than anything. He did want to ask Travis about it, but he should probably wait until they were on better terms. For now…he was going to have to wait this thing out…and talk with Mick about a new work schedule for Travis.

Eric looked to the side at Stacy thoughtfully, letting her question linger. Today had been hard. And she was right – it might get even harder before it got better. After a few quiet moments, he leaned back and motioned to her. “Come here.” Bringing her close, he let her sit sideways on his lap as he put his arms around her.

“No…I don’t think I’m ready for this. After seeing the way she looked at me today and some of the things she said… I’m definitely not ready to be responsible for a teenager.” He reached up to brush a strand of hair from Stacy’s face. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t still want it. I love you. And I love Ashlee.”

He paused as a grin toyed with his mouth. “In the not so distant future, I’m gonna have two more teenage girls on my hands… are you sure you still want this?”

Realizing Ryan had fallen asleep, Eli just let her be. Leaning his head back, he finally closed his eyes, too, and just let himself ease slowly into sleep as well. If he stayed here all night, he wouldn’t mind. It was comfortable enough. And as long as Ryan was okay without nightmares, that would help him sleep, too. He could only hope this was a fluke and that her nightmare wouldn’t return.

Hal cautiously took the bag from Sam and peeked inside before grinning. “Oh now… how did you know I forgot my lunch this morning and was gonna skip?” He chuckled and took a taco to unwrap it and take a bite. “Mm…thank you. I think I’ll keep you around.” He threw her a wink, then shook his head. “Not a whole lot going on today, especially since Aaron is on bed rest.”

He swiveled in his chair and glanced at the monitors. “I did notice Garret drove himself in today about half an hour after Nate – interesting evolution going on there. Susanne’s boyfriend picked her up for lunch. Scott and Dalton came in together – Dalton’s his temporary eyes since there’s a new possible threat for Scott. And I caught Kirk and Adison making out in the filing room. They haven’t figured out yet that there’s a camera in there.” A new smile curled his lips. “Sometimes this job is boring, and then sometimes…it comes in real handy in case blackmail is ever needed.”

Being cuffed again, Aaron sighed. He did notice, though, that they weren’t as tight this time. Settling back in the bed, he let his eyes roam the infirmary…again. Misty ignored him at least ninety-nine percent of the time. Rick ignored him more like fifty percent of the time. Which left him bored out of his mind for most of the time. Would it ever change?
