Gone

Reese thought for a moment, then nodded. He wasn't sure why, but he felt kind of strange about this today. Normally it wouldn't seem like a big deal but with everything else going on, he didn't want something to happening to Scott going ignored. "Yeah...why don't you?"

Jamison really didn't know what was going on or why anyone would be that concerned, but he was more than willing to help, and walked with Dalton to check the downstairs, then anywhere else, including the bathrooms and break room. But after a thorough search, it became more and more evident that Scott was nowhere to be found, and they had to conclude that he wasn't in the building.

"Where could he have gone?" Reese stood with Dalton and Jamison out on the main floor, glancing around with frustration.

"Hey, Babe." Laura adjusted Brian on her hip as she came up to Nate's cubicle with a smile. "I thought you might like some of my homemade bread for your lunch sandwich today."

She leaned down to give him a quick kiss. "Seen Garret today? He took off shortly after you did. I was hoping he might end up back here."

Gage's smile widened as his cheeks gained some extra color. Sapphire's compliments meant the world to him. To actually and finally be succeeding in life felt amazing, and having her to support him, was, well, maybe a little slice of heaven.

He lifted her hand to his lips and gave it a soft kiss. "Then supper it is," he decided. "And then maybe my place. For...you know...keeping me company."

His eyes danced as he stood up and leaned down to give her a warm kiss on the lips. "I will leave you alone for now though so you don't get in trouble."

Eli gave Ryan a quick wink. "Don't worry. I'm sure the guys are just glad you took a break in showing them up all the time." He gave her shoulder a little pat. "I'll see if Hunter can come over. Either way, I'll be home tonight so I'll see you then."

Leaving her be for now, he went back to his bike, and was soon on his way again. It was encouraging that Ryan wanted to interact with someone other than  just him. She was so conscientious lately that she'd avoided most contact with anyone who might think she was crazy. Maybe Hunter would help bring her a littler further back into the light...

..."Pizza, pop, napkins..." Eli stood in the living room and glanced around before looking down at his sister on the couch. It was a little later in the evening as she'd predicted, but Eli didn't mind, and Hunter hadn't seemed to mind either when he'd accepted the invitation. "I think we're good. I can..." He was cut off by the doorbell. "That's prolly him. You wanna get the door while I grab some glasses and ice?"

Outside the door, Hunter fiddled with his keys. He felt a little awkward. He didn't know Ryan all that well, and Eli even less. But this was how new friends were made, right? Eli seemed like a good guy, and he'd said this might be good for Ryan so...at the very least, maybe he'd be helping.
