Negative Emotions

Aaron's lips twitched at Sam's last comment. After their conversation earlier in the day, he wondered if she even realized what she'd just said.

A grin formed. "No, I... generally don't prefer cuffs," he confirmed. He searched Sam's face before shaking his head. "You leave me unrestrained and you're just asking me to start something. Not to mention, the big boss would prolly have a fit." It wasn't that he wanted to be locked to his bed. But having freedom without being able to use it was almost worse.

Knowing she wasn't going to let him stay here all night, he lowered his bad leg to the floor and used the table for leverage to stand up. Even though he tried to hide the pain, his tightened jaw gave him away. Going for the crutches, he fumbled, and one of the clattered to the floor. Just staring at it, he sighed. His temper was boiling under the surface and he could feel it. Anything and everything was irritating him at the moment though. It was the nature of this particular day and all the negative emotions wrapped up in it.

It was only one-thirty in the morning. There was an awful lot more of this day left. Maybe he could sleep most of it away so it would go faster.

Bending over, he managed to pick up the crutch, and aimed for the door. He didn't have the heart to throw the cookie away even if he wasn't going to eat it.

Laura nestled into Nate and sighed with content. Her fingers ran across his lightly as she thought. "You were just trying to protect Garret. And Reese doesn't make the best decision a hundred percent of the time - no one does. But... I do think he has everyone's best interest at heart, including Garret's."

She fell silent for a few minutes, pondering the last few weeks. "If...things do go south when Scott wakes up... are you going to be okay?" She paused. "You've been so focused on Garret lately... It's been amazing to see him change and I'm so glad he's here but... I just hate to see you so stressed out. You've had me worried lately."
