Not in a Million

Reese frowned as his concern grew. "He...wouldn't do anything too stupid would he? I mean...was he depressed?"

Jamison's eyes widened slightly at the implication of Reese's question. He'd read a lot about Scott and his condition after all he'd been through with the Agency, but suicidal? Now? It seemed a little much. "Would he go after someone in the Agency? To prove he was useful or something?"

Reese shrugged. "Who would he go after? Besides he doesn't know how to handle himself like that, to take on anyone. He wouldn't..." His voice trailed off as a new thought struck him, and he looked up at Dalton again before he glanced around to confirm he hadn't seen Garret today. Turning quickly, he aimed for Nate's cubicle.

Jamison glanced up at Dalton with question before following along. What was that all about?

Laura pursed her lips and shook her head at Nate's question. "No...he just said he needed some air I think. I expected him to go for a walk but he took the SUV. He might show up here or home for lunch though if he-"

"Nate?" Reese waved to Laura. "Sorry to interrupt." His eyes went back to Nate. "Have you seen Garret? Scott's missing and as enthusiastic as Garret was the other day about the assimilation upgrade, I just want to rule out the possibility that he took that into his own hands." He didn't want it to sound like he was pouncing on Garret or assuming the worst about him but at the moment, he was growing desperate to figure this out.

Jamison furrowed his brow as he thought. "Dalton, you said Scott was acting strange." While looking for him, they'd also stopped by Hope's office. "Hope said he was acting strange too. That doesn't sound like a sudden kidnapping. What if he went of his own will?"

"Not in a million years," Reese stated flatly. "He was terrified just with the mere thought of the upgrade. He'd never agree to do it." He looked back at Nate, still waiting to see if he knew anything about Garret's whereabouts.

Seeing Ryan, Hunter smiled and came into the apartment. "Thanks." His eyes gave a quick glance around. "Nice little place you got here."

Eli came in from the kitchen and grinned. "Hey, Hunter. Glad you could make it."

"Well, it's a rare occurrence that I'd turn down pizza," Hunter teased. He took off his motorcycle jacket and laid it over the back of a chair. Seeing some family pictures on the wall near the entertainment center, he wandered over to look at them.

"Beer?"

Hunter turned at Eli's offer and opened his mouth to say yes, then shook his head. "Better not. Water's fine."

Eli was a little surprised but didn't mind a bit. "Coke?"

Hunter smiled. "Sure." His eyes went back to the photo. "Family?"

"Yeah." Eli pointed out the faces. "Me and Ryan, our brother John and our dad."

Hunter wondered about their mother, but it was way too early in their relationship to ask. "I didn't know there was another brother. He live around here too?"

"No." Eli returned to the kitchen to grab a can of coke, just leaving it at that.

Hunter studied the still faces for another moment before turning to sit in the easy chair and accept the coke Eli gave him.

"You got family around here?" Eli questioned as he sat on the couch next to Ryan.

Hunter shook his head. "Nah." Actually, he didn't rightly know where his parents were by now. "No siblings or anything."

"I'm sorry." Eli grinned then elbowed Ryan. "I don't know what I'd do without my sister."

Though Hunter smiled, he wondered about the lack of mention of their other brother. "Not too many guys can say their sister kicks butt like she does."

Eli laughed and shook his head. "Very true." He sighed and looked at the pizza. "I think I'll pray so we can eat."

Hunter was a little surprised but very pleased, and now even more at ease in this home. A few minutes later they were all enjoying the pizza, and Hunter looked over at Ryan. If they were trying to make new friends here, he wasn't too afraid to talk. "So... Besides racing and fixing cars... got any other interests?"
