One Day

“Not everything that’s broken can be fixed, we can glue them back together but they will never be as strong as they once were without a little help. That’s why are here, to continue to be the one to hold him together. That’s all we can continue to do.”

Leaning his head on his wife’s and let out a sign. He hoped they would be strong enough to continue helping Garret for as long as they could. He was a good guy with a crappy hand, just trying to make it in a terrible world. Nate hoped he was, his family we being a light for Garret.

“Tomorrow is a new day and we get to continue on our path. One day at a time is all we can take.”

“We all have our own story to tell for sure.”

Finishing off her sandwich and taking a sip of her iced tea Ashlee smiled at Travis. Sometimes it was uncomfortable to talk about her dad, but it never really upset her. It was just something she was use too.

“So far Eric fits the bill well. He makes my mom really happy, and honestly that all that matters to me. So what about you? I know your mom and dad aren’t together, but do you have any brothers or sisters?”

“Thanks Hunter. I really appreciate it more than words could ever express.”

For the first time in a long time Ryan felt ok. The night had been better than she thought and Hunter had been good company even if they hadn’t spoken hardly at all while in the car.

“Maybe…I can ride with you again sometime?”

Saying her goodbyes for now Ryan got out of the car so Hunter could go join in with the crowd. Walking over to Eli she gave a little wave. She was happy Eli was waiting for her. Having two people now she knew of that had her back made her feel good.  She felt a little bit better, but it was going to be a long long tiring road still and she’d need all the support she could get.

   “How did we do?”
