Secret

Hunter chuckled and nodded slowly. "Yeah... I kinda think I like the simple life too." His eyes drifted over to Mick. It was hard leaving the people here who had so quickly become his family.

He took another sip of coffee before studying Ryan's face again. She hadn't really answered what he wanted to know, but then... maybe there wasn't an easy answer. He just hoped this whole experience has been good, and that it would give her that extra boost to getting back into the swing of life.

"So... what do you wanna do your last day here?" He gave her a new smile. "Walk? Ride? Play with kittens? Help Clint? You can even ignore me completely if you want." He really meant it - if she would rather have a quiet day alone, he wouldn't be offended. He certainly enjoyed her company, but it was totally her choice. "I'm gonna go riding with Mick later, but otherwise I have no plans."

Accepting the drink and snack, Garret lifted his eyebrows. He still wasn't used to someone acting so relaxed around him but... it felt good. He popped open  his can of coke too and took a long swallow before he shrugged. "I dunno. I lost track." He hadn't really... it was just that his mind had wandered off task so far it was hard coming back.

Leaning back in his chair, he grew very quiet for several minutes, lost in a stare as his mind worked on a very different matter. "Sapphire?" He turned to look at her. His eyes were dark, almost confused. "If you... had a secret... and on one hand, you thought someone else had a right to know, and you wanted to tell them, but... on the other hand, keeping the secret would probably keep them from getting hurt... what would you do?"

"Of course I don't mind." Jason grinned. "I'll see you in a while then." After coming around to give Katie a quick kiss, he left to go home and get ready for tonight.

It was just a little while later that he was showered and dressed in clean clothes, donning his leather jacket and grabbing his motorcycle helmet. His knee was hurting a bit, but he wasn't going to let that stop him from riding tonight.

It was a short trip to Katie's, where he pulled up to the curve and revved the engine several times, knowing full well he was probably annoying the neighbors and... he didn't care one bit.

"I'm not always a zombie," Levi defended. He watched as Karla picked up some of his paperwork mess, wishing he had just an ounce of her organization. His brain just didn't work that way. "Just... most of the time."

He grinned and turned back to his computer. "Okay. So tonight. And I don't care of you go over your hours this week... You're counting your time for tonight." He knew she often put in more time than what she got paid for, and even though they couldn't yet afford to pay her any more regularly, he couldn't in good conscience let her stay all evening for nothing more than a slice of pizza...

... It was several hours later. Keith had long since gone home, leaving Levi and Karla to keep working. It wasn't his ideal circumstance but he let his son do what he needed to finish the jobs he'd taken on.

Levi bobbed his head to the music playing, his bottom half swiveling in his chair, while he chewed on a slice of pizza and squinted at his computer screen all at the same time. "Gah..." He finished chewing his mouthful before shoving off and rolling over to Karla. "Did Joe say he wanted that shade of blue in the logo tweaked?" He wiped some sauce off his chin with a napkin. "Or was it the green he didn't like? I... forgot to write it down."
