Permission

Getting back to the house with Katie it felt just like old times to Jason. As if the bad had never happened. As if they'd never split up. He couldn't help but wonder what things would look like if he'd stayed with Misty. Though he'd cared a great deal for her - and still did, as a friend - his feelings just didn't compare to those he felt for Katie. She was just...special, and he couldn't deny it. Connection or not, he didn't want to lose her.

Wandering into the living room after slipping off his shoes, he half-listened to Katie. "Hmm...?" His eyes browsed the dvd rack, but he wasn't really sure what mood he was in. He heard her in the kitchen, pouring herself a glass of water, and abandoned the movies.

Leaning in the doorway for a moment, he just watched her in the kitchen. They'd been through so much together...surely they could survive like they always had. "I think I'm good." His response to her question came very late, and he gave her a little grin as he finally came into the kitchen. "Well... actually..."

He took her glass from her hand and set it back on the counter. "There is something I've been dying for..." Closing the gap between them, his one arm wrapped around her waist, his other hand coming up to cradle the side of her face. He'd almost forgotten how much taller he was than she, and it made his smile widen. "Can we just...put the movie on hold for a minute or two?" he whispered.

Leaning in closer, his lips brushed her cheek softly. "I have missed you...so much..." His kiss moved to her lips, ever so lightly before drawing back just far enough to see her eyes, silently asking permission for more.

Giving a little sigh, Kirk took Adison's hand and pulled himself up off the couch. "Okay, fine, be that way." He had to laugh though. "Yeah, this poor old couch might not be able to take too much more roughhousing. Not to mention Mrs. Tindelmire."

He ruffled her hair teasingly before letting her go so she could get her shoes on before leaving. Walking her to the door, he felt a mix of pleasure and lingering disappointment. He'd had as much fun as always tonight...and he needed to get his head back on straight so his mind would quit wandering to places it shouldn't go.

"Goodnight. Drive safe." He leaned his head on the door as she walked out. "See you tomorrow."
